How to tell you have a Galaxy S26

Go to Settings > About phone. A US Galaxy S26 shows model number SM-S942U (AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon versions) or SM-S942U1 (unlocked).

  • Galaxy S26+ (SM-S947U or SM-S947U1): the same three-camera setup, but a 6.7-inch display and a larger body, so the model number is the reliable tell.
  • Galaxy S26 Ultra (SM-S948U or SM-S948U1): a 6.9-inch display, four rear cameras and a built-in S Pen.
  • Galaxy S25 (SM-S931U or SM-S931U1): the previous base model, with a 6.2-inch display. Samsung lists the new ambient island camera design as one of the changes from the S25.

Why cases are model-specific

Samsung lists the Galaxy S26 at 149.6 x 71.7 x 7.2 mm (about 5.89 x 2.82 x 0.28 in) with a 6.3-inch display. The Galaxy S26+ measures 158.4 x 75.8 x 7.3 mm (about 6.24 x 2.98 x 0.29 in), and the Galaxy S25 measures 146.9 x 70.5 x 7.2 mm (about 5.78 x 2.78 x 0.28 in). The S26 is 2.7 mm taller and 1.2 mm wider than the S25, which is why each case is built around one model.

Camera layout

The S26 has three rear cameras: a 12 MP Ultra Wide, a 50 MP Wide and a 10 MP Telephoto with 3x optical zoom. Samsung says its ambient island camera design unifies the lenses into a single feature. The S26 Ultra adds a fourth rear camera.

No S Pen

Samsung notes that the Galaxy S26 does not support S Pen functionality; only the S26 Ultra stores one.
